Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa (1958) |
Probably the most inspiring of the two is the Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa. Only 34 of them were built. Testa Rossa is rge Italian word for Red Head, a name that would later come back in the 1980's and 1990's with Testarossa (as one word). The best known model, the Ferrari 250TR, was fabricated (by hand) from 1957 to 1958. Only two factory cars and 19 customer cars have been built. The 250 Testa Rossa is the second most valuable Ferrari model (straight behind the 250 GTO), valued over 8 million US$. Last year, a 1957 250 Testa Rossa did 12 million on an auction which gave it the instant record of most expensive classic car ever sold.

Ferrari 250 GTO
As I already mentioned in the last paragraph, on the average count, the Ferrari 250 GTO is the most valuable Ferrari model of 'em all. In case you wonder what GTO stands for: Grand Turismo Omologato or in English Grand Touring Homologato. Back then you could order one from Ferrari for about $20,000 which was a lot for that time, but if you ant one now...prepare a few million first! In total, Ferrari hand-manufactured not more then 39 Ferrari 250 GTO's.
