an executive class car that certainly made its impression when it was first introduced back in 1983! The 25 was Renault's one and only true flagship car during its life, 1983 through 1992. The R25 was extremely popular among business people, business owners and CEO's because of its luxury, safety, the enormous space inside, the smooth driving experience and renault's outstanding record of very high quality. The Renault 25 was in that period the most prestigious French business car you could own. The most expensive as well, but quality and luxury usually goes hand in hand with a certain price-tag, right?

All Renault 25 models ever made were build at one factory in France, fabrication was never started in other countries because Renault wanted to be sure that the car would get the utmost best fabrication treatment possible, with extremely high quality control and more then usual intermediate control checks. And that could only be done if the car manufacturer had full control over every single step, so they decided to keep the fabrication of all Renault 25's fully in-house. The Renault 25 did however had its own private production facility, detached from the other models. This was done to ensure that only the most qualified workers had access to the production of the R25.

Eagle Premier / Dodge Monaco

In the US, the Renault 25 was sold as well but under a different name: Eagle Premier. Apart from the name, the Eagle Premier distinct-ed in a few other ways from the Renault 25 sold in Europe. The body of the Eagle Premier for instance was altered to suit the taste of the American car buyer. It was re-designed by an Italian design studio. Another few changes were applied to the interior which was modified by American Motor, the distributor of the Eagle Premier. The body and mechanics remained all original Renault 25 make. In the later stages the car was re-branded to Dodge Monaco as suggested by Chrysler who had bought over AMC (American Motor).

Not long after that a new era for Renault had set in, with newer, more revolutionary models and when the contract with Chrysler ended Renault decided to stop the sale of the Eagle Premier and ub tyrn the Dodge Monaco as well. At present, the demand for these high quality cars in the second-hand car market in the US is still very high, but the supply is not as high so in many cases these two "oldies" still sell at quite a "premier" price.
